About the bristol club

Meetings

Club meetings are held at 7 pm on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month in a hotel south of Bristol.   The 2nd Monday is a speaker meeting (with a meal available after 6.30 pm) and the 4th Monday is a business meeting.

We can attend meetings of any other club in any Federation as well as our own should we be away from home.

We have a membership of over 30 representing a wealth of background and expertise. For example we have an Engineer, Financial Fraud Investigator, Fundraiser, General Practitioner, Graphics Designer, Headmistress, Horticultural Statistician, Magistrate, Orthoptist, School Governor, Solicitor, Underwriter and University Lecturer .

Our LOCAL programme for 2011 - 2012 includeD:

   EVENTS:

      Contract Bridge Day in aid of the Teenage Parents Project (the year's charity)
      A visit to Tyntesfield (a local National Trust property)

      Federation Conference in Brighton where one of our members is the Designer

      Region Conference

      Pudding and Pimms party to raise funds for our ongoing Learning in Lima project

      A joint visit with the Weston-super-Mare club to a Museum of Treasures

   SPEAKER MEETINGS included:

       Delights of a Summer Garden held at a local nursery

      An update on The Princess Royal Trust for Carers -a charity we have supported

      The work of the Avon Wildlife Trust

      A talk by an Environmental Health Practioner

   ONGOING INTERESTS:

      Mock interviews at local schools

     Continuing support for a women's refuge

     Collecting for Lord Mayor's Appeal after the annual performance of "The Messiah"

We do not neglect the fun and friendship of Soroptimism and this is reflected in our programme and in other informal occasions as well as joining with other clubs for their events.
